Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a BIM Designer to produce coordinated 3D BIM models and 2D CAD drawings for fire alarm and detection systems on large-scale industrial projects in Sunderland. The role requires strong Revit and AutoCAD skills and is an on-site, 3-month initial contract outside IR35.

You will coordinate BIM models with multidisciplinary teams, carry out on-site surveys, and contribute to design coordination and client reviews, delivering accurate, high-quality design deliverables.

Qualifications

• Proven BIM design experience in building services or fire alarm systems.
• Strong Revit skills for 3D modelling and 2D CAD drawings.
• Experience on large industrial or manufacturing projects preferred.
• Knowledge of UK fire safety regulations.

Essential Skillset

• Proven experience in a BIM Design role within building services or fire alarm systems
• Strong proficiency in Revit for 3D BIM modelling
• Advanced AutoCAD skills for producing 2D layouts, schematics and installation drawings
• Good understanding of UK fire safety regulations
• Experience coordinating BIM models with multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Ability to carry out on‑site surveys and translate findings into coordinated BIM models
• Experience participating in design coordination and client review meetings
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high‑quality design deliverables
• Excellent technical problem‑solving skills, including clash detection and design coordination
• Experience maintaining project documentation, BIM models and drawing registers

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience on large‑scale industrial or manufacturing projects
• Knowledge of BIM Level2, Common Data Environments (CDE) and BIM execution plans (BEP)
• Experience using coordination software such as Navisworks
• Understanding of fire alarm system design principles and installation practices
• Experience supporting testing, commissioning and design validation activities
