Job description

The Fairlie Healthcare Group is a leading provider of high-quality care which was established in 1999. We specialise in caring for adults with neurological conditions, as well as patients with tracheostomies, and who require ventilator support.

We currently have three homes, Fairlie House which is in West Norwood with 45 beds, Highfield House which is located in Purley with 45 beds and finally, Woodstown House in Banstead with 40 beds, which opened its doors to its first residents in April 2021. All three homes have achieved the highest rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we continually strive to maintain our 'Outstanding' rating.

Job Title: Billing Officer / Credit Controller

Reports To: Management accountant

Job Type: Part-time- 3 days/ 24 hours per week, office only

Salary: £34,000 pro rata (£20.4k effective)

Scope

We are searching for an outstanding Billing Officer / Credit Controller to a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Officer/Credit Controller to join our finance team at Fairlie Healthcare.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Billing Officer/Credit Controller to join our finance team at Fairlie Healthcare. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, maintaining accurate customer records, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. This role plays a key part in supporting the financial health of the organisation and delivering a high standard of service to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate customer records, ensuring information is readily available to internal stakeholders.
  • Set up customer contracts within the month of a resident's admission, in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Raise and issue monthly sales invoices promptly and accurately to customers and/or their representatives.
  • Post customer receipts in the accounting system and accurately allocate payments to the correct invoices.
  • Update and maintain aged debtor reports regularly to ensure the sales ledger remains accurate and reconciled.
  • Follow up with customers regarding overdue invoices, manage the credit control process, and maintain up-to-date records of communications and payment arrangements.
  • Complete weekly bank reconciliations and assist with preparing cashflow forecasts for management review.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar finance, billing, or credit control role (experience in a care home or healthcare setting is advantageous).
  • Knowledge of sales ledger and credit control procedures.
  • Strong numerical and reconciliation skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
