Job summary

Fenway Health’s Department of Prevention seeks a Bi-Lingual Outreach Specialist to serve BIPOC and Latinx communities through street and mobile outreach, testing, and harm reduction services in Cambridge, Boston, and Somerville. The role involves rapid HIV/HCV/STI testing, overdose prevention trainings, and on-site health education.

The ideal candidate will conduct outreach with active drug users, provide supplies and referrals, and break language barriers by delivering interventions in Spanish

Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish required.
• Minimum two years relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of harm reduction practices.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 1 year driving experience.
• Experience with outreach to at-risk populations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to provide rapid HIV testing or willingness to learn phlebotomy.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Respectful, culturally aware with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct street and mobile outreach to active drug users in high-need areas.
• Distribute safer sex, overdose prevention supplies, and collect used syringes.
• Provide harm reduction information and referrals.
• Provide two-language interventions when necessary (Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Portuguese).
• Conduct rapid HIV testing and education.
• Provide overdose prevention trainings on naloxone.
• Help clients access services and enroll in syringe exchange.
• Participate in daily drop-in operations and maintain a welcoming environment.
• Build partnerships with community partners and participate in meetings.
• Assist Program Manager in development and evaluation.
• Assist in vehicle maintenance.
• Respond to overdose and behavioral health crises.
• Attend meetings and trainings.
