Job summary

Kier Construction in Salford or Speke is seeking a Bid Writer to join the Pre-Construction team. You will craft high-quality, tailored proposals across education, healthcare, defence, and infrastructure to win work.

You will collaborate with bid managers, SMEs and operations to deliver compelling content, translating technical details into clear narratives, and ensuring timely delivery in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience in professional writing, communications or marketing.
• Demonstrable bid writing experience within a complex environment.
• Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging written content.
• Excellent written communication with keen eye for detail and consistency.
• Strong interpersonal skills to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate responses to Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents.
• Facilitate storyboard sessions with bid teams to develop structured client-focused responses.
• Adapt and tailor existing content to meet specific client requirements and project contexts.
• Edit and refine contributions from various departments to ensure timely delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement by applying client feedback and innovating bid content presentation.

We're looking for a Bid Writer to join our Pre-Construction team based in Salford or Speke.

Location: Salford or Speke - Hybrid opportunity for some work at home
Hours: 37.5 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

This role is pivotal in supporting Kier's strategic growth by producing high-quality, compelling proposal content that clearly communicates our value proposition to clients across a range of sectors including education, healthcare, defence, and infrastructure. You will work closely with bid managers, subject matter experts, and operational teams to craft tailored responses that reflect Kier's technical capabilities, commitment to innovation, and excellence in project delivery.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Bid Writer, you'll be working within the Pre-Construction team, supporting them in delivering high-quality, compelling proposals that win work. Your day to day will include:

• Leading and coordinating responses to Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents


• Facilitating storyboard sessions with bid teams to develop structured and client-focused responses


• Adapting and tailoring existing content to meet specific client requirements and project contexts
