Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Bid Writer to join the Pre-Construction team in Salford or Speke, with hybrid home-working options. You will produce high-quality proposals and win work by clearly communicating Kier’s value to clients across education, healthcare, defence and infrastructure.

Working closely with bid managers, subject matter experts and operational teams, you will tailor content, manage deadlines, and continuously improve proposal quality while reflecting Kier’s commitment to innovation

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience in professional writing, communications or marketing.
• Demonstrable bid writing experience in a complex environment.
• Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging content.
• Excellent written communication with attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate responses to PQQs and ITT documents.
• Facilitate storyboard sessions with bid teams to develop client-focused responses.
• Tailor existing content to meet client requirements and project contexts.
• Edit contributions from departments to ensure timely delivery against deadlines.
• Drive continuous improvement by applying client feedback and innovating bid content presentation.

We’re looking for a Bid Writer to join our Pre-Construction team based in Salford or Speke.

Location: Salford or Speke - Hybrid opportunity for some work at home

Hours: 37.5 per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Kier Construction is seeking a skilled and motivated Bid Writer to join our dynamic Pre-Construction team. This role is pivotal in supporting Kier’s strategic growth by producing high-quality, compelling proposal content that clearly communicates our value proposition to clients across a range of sectors including education, healthcare, defence, and infrastructure. You will work closely with bid managers, subject matter experts, and operational teams to craft tailored responses that reflect Kier’s technical capabilities, commitment to innovation, and excellence in project delivery.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Bid Writer, You’ll Be Working Within The Pre-Construction Team, Supporting Them In Delivering High-quality, Compelling Proposals That Win Work. Your Day To Day Will Include

• Leading and coordinating responses to Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents
• Facilitating storyboard sessions with bid teams to develop structured and client-focused responses
• Adapting and tailoring existing content to meet specific client requirements and project contexts
• Editing and refining contributions from various departments to ensure timely delivery in line with deadlines
• Driving continuous improvement by applying client feedback and innovating in the presentation of bid content
