Job summary

Brandon James Ltd in Romford is seeking a Bid Writer to join a friendly, experienced team. You will own tender submissions, write compelling responses and coordinate with operations to meet strict deadlines while targeting Local Authorities, Housing Associations and public-sector projects.

The role offers a structured, collaborative environment with on-site hours Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, and a salary in the range of £40,000–£50,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications

  • Experience writing and compiling construction bids.
  • Experience in construction, refurbishment, social housing, maintenance or similar.
  • Strong written English and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Write, develop and complete high‑quality tender submissions.
  • Produce bids for Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Social Housing and Public Building projects.
  • Complete PQQs and support wider pre-construction submissions.
  • Review tender documents and identify client requirements.
  • Collaborate with operations and commercial teams to gather information.
  • Develop clear, persuasive responses and manage deadlines.

Bid Writer – Construction

Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

An established construction contractor is looking for a Bid Writer to join its friendly and experienced team based in Romford.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Bid Writer who enjoys taking ownership of submissions while working within a supportive, collaborative environment. The business has a strong track record of delivering projects for Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Universities and other public-sector clients, and continues to secure new work through competitive tenders and framework agreements.

The Bid Writer will be joining an established, owner-managed construction business with a turnover of approximately £14m and a team of around 25 people.

The Bid Writer’s Role

The Bid Writer will be responsible for:

  • Writing, developing and completing high-quality tender submissions
  • Producing bids for Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Social Housing and Public Building projects
  • Completing PQQs and supporting wider pre-construction submissions
  • Reviewing tender documents and identifying key client requirements
  • Working closely with operational and commercial teams to gather relevant information
  • Developing clear, persuasive and tailored written responses
  • Managing individual submissions and ensuring deadlines are achieved
  • Maintaining and developing bid content for future submissions
  • Supporting the wider bid team and Bid Manager when required
The Bid Writer

The successful Bid Writer will ideally have:

  • Previous experience writing and compiling construction-related bids
  • Experience within construction, refurbishment, social housing, maintenance or a similar sector
  • Strong written English and excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Good computer literacy and experience working with tender documentation
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
  • A good understanding of the construction industry
  • The ability to manage deadlines and multiple submissions
  • A proactive approach and the ability to hit the ground running
