B+K is recruiting an experienced Bid Writer to join our Central region, based in Belper, Derby.
Role Purpose:
Function as the Lead Author to produce professionally written, consistent proposal content that clearly articulates B+K's value proposition.
As Bid Writer, you will:
- Develop value propositions tailored to clients' unique requirements.
- Undertake client/market research and competitor analysis.
- Dissect questions and produce answer plans to maximise relevant information from subject matter experts.
- Create response structures and compile narratives for quality responses, aligned with clients' evaluation criteria and objectives.
- Maintain a consistent B+K tone of voice across submissions.
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts, transforming design and construction details into persuasive responses.
- Manage content and structure for evidence and case studies.
- Develop case studies and evidence with project teams and subject matter experts.
- Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts.
- Coordinate and manage response review sessions.
- Coach operational teams and subject matter experts in writing best practices.
- Support marketing plans to explore new markets and proposals.
- Monitor and record PQQ/tender success rates, analyzing trends and customer feedback for improvements.
- Record all leads, PQQs, and tender opportunities with anticipated timelines on the business development database.
- Research customers and consultants for relevant opportunities to prepare winning bid documents.
- Interview Contracts Managers/Project Managers and update project reference sheets (PRS), showcasing key project details with photographs.
- Assist staff in updating or tailoring their CVs for specific opportunities.

- Proven skills in producing and editing proposal content across sectors for public and private clients.
- Excellent writing and professional communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Strong research skills and effective questioning techniques.
- Exceptional proofreading and editing abilities.
- Competence in using various tools, methods, and search engines for data analysis, competitor, and client research.
- Supportive of developing proposal libraries and knowledge hubs regionally and centrally.
- Collaborative working with bid teams, operational teams, and supply chains.
- Ability to manage multiple bids/questions simultaneously.
- Experience with coordinating and updating knowledge base systems is advantageous.
- Experience in the construction industry is beneficial but not essential.
Qualifications:
- Certified to APMP Foundation or Practitioner Level (desirable).
- Advanced MS Word skills and proficiency in MS Office, including working with templates.
