Job description

Bike Technician / E-Bike Technician
Location: Cambridge area
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are working with an innovative UK engineering and product development business looking to appoint an experienced Bike Technician to join its growing technical team.

This is more than a traditional workshop mechanic position. You’ll work across the build, servicing, diagnostics and technical development of advanced bicycles and e-bikes, supporting both existing products and future product development.

The role would suit a technically strong bike mechanic who enjoys fault-finding, understands e-bike technology and wants to work in a more innovative engineering-led environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Completing full bike builds, servicing, repairs and diagnostics across new and returned bikes
  • Carrying out detailed inspections and assessments before commencing work
  • Completing pre-delivery inspections and ensuring bikes meet required quality and safety standards
  • Test riding bikes to diagnose faults and assess motor, battery and wider system performance
  • Wheel building
  • Technical fault-finding and root cause analysis on customer returns and warranty cases
  • Advising customers on repairs, upgrades and ongoing bike care
  • Maintaining accurate service, build, repair and technical test records
  • Supporting continuous improvement of workshop and technical procedures
  • Managing stock levels for bike parts and components and supporting procurement
  • Providing technical support to sales and customer-facing teams
  • Supporting occasional demonstrations, test ride events and industry shows

The position covers a considerably broader technical remit than a standard bike shop mechanic role, including diagnostics, root-cause analysis and involvement in product improvement.

What We’re Looking For

You will ideally have:

  • City & Guilds Level 2 or Cytech Level 3 qualification
  • At least 2 years' experience within bike servicing, maintenance and repair
  • Previous e-bike experience or a strong understanding of electric bicycles
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and technical bike-building ability
  • Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of current bicycle technologies and developments
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider technical team

The qualification requirement and minimum two years' servicing/repair experience are specified as essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician looking to move into a product-focused engineering environment where you'll gain exposure to new technology, product development and the full product lifecycle.
