Role: BI Developer
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £43,703 - £47,503
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid – 1 day per week in office)
Reports To: Lead BI Developer

This exciting role is for a well-known public sector organisation in Birmingham city centre within their Business Intelligence (BI) team.

The organisation provides legal services for people in key areas such as buying a home, dealing with bereavement, issues at work, ending a marriage, or legal action. They are looking to expand their BI team due to increased workload.

The BI Developer will maintain and develop BI solutions and automated tools, helping produce management information from telephony, finance, HR, and other systems. They will work with technical and data specialists to improve reporting capabilities, ensuring effective distribution of relevant management information and documenting changes clearly.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify opportunities for improving data sourcing and storage in the data warehouse.
  2. Collaborate with Performance Analysts, Lead BI Developer, CRM, and SharePoint specialists to capture reporting requirements.
  3. Design and support routines for reliable, accurate Management Information from systems like case management, telephony, finance, and HR.
  4. Assess requirements, design solutions, document models, and deliver ETL solutions using SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
  5. Modify existing ETL models to support business changes.
  6. Maintain and develop the data warehouse to meet MI needs.
  7. Enable business users to access reporting capabilities.
  8. Support data quality by working with users to correct data errors.

The role focuses on maintaining and developing BI solutions, building and testing end-to-end reporting solutions for internal and external stakeholders.

Essentials
  • 3-5 years’ experience in SQL and DBA roles.
  • Effective communication skills across all levels.
  • Understanding of Data Warehouse best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced ETL, SQL, and DBA skills.
  • Skills in data mapping and modelling.
  • Knowledge of Kimball methodology and Star Schema modelling.
  • Experience with SSIS, SSMS, and building pipelines.
  • Experience with APIs for data extraction.
  • Ability to develop PowerBI reports and dashboards to high standards.
