Job summary

Arm is recruiting for an experienced BESS O&M Service Engineer to support the operation, maintenance and performance optimisation of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems across the UK. The role blends field-based site work with remote operations and home working, including maintenance planning, diagnostics and on-call support to ensure safety and reliability of BESS assets.

You will liaise with OEMs, coordinate site visits and contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in BESS, energy storage or power sector.
• Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Experience with LV systems, batteries, PCS/inverters and EMS preferred.
• UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Familiarity with UK HSE regulations and safe working practices.
• On-call/out-of-hours coverage required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on BESS systems.
• Perform remote operations, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Inspect sites using appropriate tools and test equipment.

Contract: Permanent, Full-time

The Opportunity

ARM is recruiting for an experienced BESS O&M Service Engineer to support the operation, maintenance and performance optimisation of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business within the energy transition sector, ensuring BESS assets operate safely, reliably and efficiently in line with contractual requirements.

The role combines field-based site work, troubleshooting, remote operations and home working, alongside technical documentation, maintenance planning and corrective maintenance support.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on BESS systems and associated infrastructure.
• Perform remote operations, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Conduct site inspections using appropriate tools and test equipment.
• Support safe operation of battery storage systems, PCS/inverters and EMS.
• Ensure compliance with site-specific Health & Safety requirements.
• Supervise subcontractors and ensure third-party works meet quality and compliance standards.
• Support commissioning, upgrades and major repairs.
• Review maintenance documentation, manuals and technical drawings.
• Support development of maintenance procedures, RAMS and Method Statements.
• Work with LTSA management and H&S teams on relevant procedures and documentation.
• Liaise with OEM suppliers regarding maintenance procedures and technical queries.
• Support preparation of annual maintenance plans for BESS projects.
• Provide on-call support for urgent site issues outside normal working hours.

About You

• A minimum of 2 years' experience in BESS, Energy Storage, Renewables, Solaror the Power sector.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
• Strong knowledge of LV systems, batteries, PCS/inverters and Energy Management Systems.
• Practical experience in BESS Operations & Maintenance.
• ECS/CSCS card or eligibility to obtain one.
• Good knowledge of UK HSE regulations and safe working practices.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to UK sites.
• A proactive and solution-focused approach.
• Flexibility to participate in out-of-hours/on-call coverage.Experience with HV operations, battery system training or specific PCS/OEM training would be highly advantageous.
