Advanced Resource Managers Ltd is seeking a BESS O&M Service Engineer to support operation, maintenance and performance optimisation of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems across the UK.

The role combines field-based site work, remote operations and home working, with maintenance planning, documentation and onsite safety compliance. A degree in engineering and an ECS/CSCS card are required, along with a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

  • Experience in BESS/energy storage environments preferred.
  • Ability to perform remote diagnostics and troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on BESS systems and related infrastructure.
  • Perform remote operations, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct site inspections using appropriate tools and test equipment.
  • Support safe operation of battery storage systems, PCS/inverters and EMS.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements on site.
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure third-party works meet quality standards.
  • Support commissioning, upgrades and major repairs.
  • Review maintenance documentation, manuals and drawings.
  • Support development of maintenance procedures, RAMS and method statements.
  • Coordinate with LTSA and H&S teams on procedures and documentation.
  • Liaise with OEM suppliers for maintenance procedures and technical queries.
  • Assist with annual maintenance planning for BESS projects.
  • Provide on-call support for urgent site issues.

BESS O&M Service Engineer

Location: London / Oxfordshire Sites / Hybrid
Contract: Permanent, Full-time

The Opportunity

ARM is recruiting for an experienced BESS O&M Service Engineer to support the operation, maintenance and performance optimisation of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business within the energy transition sector, ensuring BESS assets operate safely, reliably and efficiently in line with contractual requirements.

The role combines field-based site work, troubleshooting, remote operations and home working, alongside technical documentation, maintenance planning and corrective maintenance support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on BESS systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Perform remote operations, diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct site inspections using appropriate tools and test equipment.
  • Support safe operation of battery storage systems, PCS/inverters and EMS.
  • Ensure compliance with site-specific Health & Safety requirements.
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure third-party works meet quality and compliance standards.
  • Support commissioning, upgrades and major repairs.
  • Review maintenance documentation, manuals and technical drawings.
  • Support development of maintenance procedures, RAMS and Method Statements.
  • Work with LTSA management and H&S teams on relevant procedures and documentation.
  • Liaise with OEM suppliers regarding maintenance procedures and technical queries.
  • Support preparation of annual maintenance plans for BESS projects.
  • Provide on-call support for urgent site issues outside normal working hours.
About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in BESS, Energy Storage, Renewables, Solaror the Power sector.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of LV systems, batteries, PCS/inverters and Energy Management Systems.
  • Practical experience in BESS Operations & Maintenance.
  • ECS/CSCS card or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Good knowledge of UK HSE regulations and safe working practices.
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to UK sites.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach.
  • Flexibility to participate in out-of-hours/on-call coverage.

Experience with HV operations, battery system training or specific PCS/OEM training would be highly advantageous.
