Job summary

The Gateway Learning Community (GLC) seeks an ambitious Bespoke Provision Lead to direct a dedicated space for SEND pupils with complex barriers to learning. You will oversee a small-step curriculum, drive Total Communication, and mentor Learning Support Assistants to ensure high engagement and progress.

You will collaborate with SENDCos, therapists, and families to embed therapeutic goals in daily routines, aligning with the SEND Code of Practice.

Qualifications

• Qualifications: Level 3 or higher (e.g., HLTA or Early Years Educator).
• Experience: Supporting pupils with significant learning difficulties incl. ASD & speech needs.
• SEND Expertise: Total Communication approaches (AAC, PECS, Makaton) and SEND Code of Practice.
• Leadership: Strong leadership, emotional intelligence, patience and resilience.
• Desirable: Accredited training in Team Teach/MAPA and leading support teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily organisation and delivery of an adapted curriculum for complex SEND learners.
• Drive a Total Communication environment using AAC, PECS, Makaton and objects.
• Lead, mentor and deploy Learning Support Assistants with best teaching practices.
• Implement positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques for safety.
• Collaborate with SENDCos, parents, therapists, and educational psychologists.
