Job summary

Bennett And Game Recruitment is seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer in the Newcastle-under-Lyme area to design bespoke mechanical products using SolidWorks. You will produce 3D CAD models, detailed drawings and BOMs, while ordering components and coordinating with suppliers to keep production on schedule.

You will work in a small design team, manage multiple projects, and contribute to design for manufacture, with a focus on quality, manufacturability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in Mechanical Design Engineer role.
• SolidWorks experience essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Designing bespoke mechanical products.
• Producing accurate engineering drawings.
• Ordering components.
• Supporting manufacturing activities and ensuring projects meet timescales and quality standards.
• Producing 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings.
• Designing components and assemblies to customer and manufacturing requirements.
• Preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
• Ordering components and liaising with suppliers to ensure availability for production.
• Supporting manufacturing and assembly teams with technical queries and design modifications.
• Working with the drawing office to deliver projects on schedule.
• Reviewing designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintaining engineering documentation and revision control.
• Assisting with product improvements and ongoing development.
• Liaising with internal departments to progress projects from design to manufacture.
• Providing regular progress updates to management.
