CIBSE Journal is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for a role based in Stretford, Manchester. You will design bespoke components for repairing water authority equipment, measuring parts for replacements, and creating designs with SolidWorks and AutoCAD where needed.

You will liaise with suppliers and shopfloor teams, manage bespoke projects, and help drive efficient manufacturing processes. A solid foundation in design and collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience designing mechanical components for repairs.
• SolidWorks experience.
• Ability to work on bespoke design projects.
• Strong communication with suppliers and shopfloor teams.
• AutoCAD experience (not essential).
• HNC qualification (not essential).

Responsibilities

• Design components for repairing water authority equipment.
• Measure existing parts to create replacement components.
• Produce designs using SolidWorks.
• Use AutoCAD when required.
• Create designs for laser cutting and folding.
• Work on bespoke design projects.
• Request and review supplier quotes.
• Liaise with shopfloor during design and manufacturing.
