Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, and enthusiastic midwife to join our specialist Bereavement Team based at Birmingham Women's Hospital.

This rewarding role provides an opportunity to support women, their partners, and families experiencing pregnancy and baby loss, from early pregnancy loss through to stillbirth, neonatal death, and into subsequent pregnancies following loss. The post holder will coordinate and deliver specialist bereavement care that is compassionate, family-centred, holistic, and equitable, ensuring that the individual needs, wishes, and preferences of each family remain at the heart of their care.

Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant will play a key role in supporting midwifery, nursing, medical, and allied health professional colleagues to deliver consistently high standards of bereavement care across the Trust. The role also includes leading and contributing to the education, training, and development of staff to promote best practice and compassionate care.

The post holder will manage a caseload of bereaved families, and will coordinate their bereavement care, they will need to be highly motivated and able to organise their workload whilst meeting the day to requests made of the bereavement team.

This position offers excellent opportunities for professional development, with access to specialist education and training to further enhance clinical expertise and leadership in bereavement care.

The post is based at Birmingham Women's Hospital and is worked over three days per week, including weekdays and weekends/bank holidays on a rotational rota.
