Job summary

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Bereavement Specialist Midwife to support the Bereavement Lead Midwife and multidisciplinary teams. You will deliver compassionate, equitable bereavement care across St Richards Hospital (Chichester) and Worthing Hospital, guiding staff and families through the bereavement journey.

The role involves advising maternity teams, coordinating care, and driving practice improvements in line with national priorities and standards.

Qualifications

Experience in providing and coordinating bereavement care.
Post-registration education or study relevant to pregnancy loss.
Teaching experience in maternity care or bereavement support.
Audit and/or research experience in healthcare.
Experience of clinical audit/quality issues within health care.

Responsibilities

Provide bereavement support for women, birthing people and families after pregnancy loss.
Lead in maintaining high standards of service through audits and consumer feedback.
Provide clinical support for staff delivering bereavement care.
Communicate effectively with families in distressing situations.
Coordinate processes following pregnancy loss or neonatal death.
Deliver bereavement training for midwives on a regular basis.
