Job summary

Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated Senior Maternity Support Worker to join the Homebirth Team. The role focuses on providing high-quality, personalized care to women and families choosing homebirth, in collaboration with midwives to ensure safe and positive experiences.

The successful candidate will support the team across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care, participate in home visits, and help maintain safe practices in line with Trust policies

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in Maths and English.
• Level 4 Assistant Practitioner (Maternity) qualification.
• Care Certificate.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, including on-call duties.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Maternity Support Worker to join our Homebirth Team at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. This role involves providing high-quality, personalised care to women and families choosing homebirth, working closely with midwives to ensure safe and positive experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Support midwives in delivering care during antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
• Assist with clinical observations, documentation, and preparation of equipment for homebirths.
• Provide emotional and practical support to women and families in their own homes.
• Promote safe practice and uphold professional standards in line with Trust policies.

Essential Requirements

• Level 2 qualification in Maths and English.
• Level 4 Assistant Practitioner (Maternity) qualification.
• Care Certificate
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, including on-call duties.

Desirable

• Previous experience in maternity or community care settings.
• Understanding of homebirth pathways and safeguarding procedures.
