Qualifications

• Significant post-registration experience.
• Experience in providing and coordinating bereavement care.
• Strong communication skills.
• ENB 997/8 or equivalent.
• Teaching experience.
• Audit and/or research experience.
• Degree in midwifery or relevant subject.
• Experience of clinical audit/quality issues within the health care setting.
• Registered Midwife.
• Evidence of championing equality and inclusion.
• Development in equalities issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide bereavement support for women, birthing people and families suffering pregnancy loss, stillbirth and early infant loss.
• Lead in achieving high standards of service through audits, environment checks and consumer surveys.
• Be accountable for own professional practice.
• Provide clinical support for staff delivering bereavement care.
• Demonstrate effective communication in emotionally demanding situations.
• Coordinate processes following pregnancy loss or maternal/neonatal death.
• Refer families for formal bereavement counselling as needed.
• Liaise with coroner, chaplain, mortuary, cemetery and other agencies.
• Train midwives on bereavement in the rolling education programme.
