Job summary

Derbyshire Client in the Midlands is seeking a professional Bench Joiner to join their team on a permanent basis. The role involves interpreting technical drawings and manufacturing bespoke joinery from sheet materials and timber, with a day shift Monday to Friday and overtime available.

You will work with MDF, plywood, laminates and veneers, ensure high-quality finish, maintain safe workspace, and meet project deadlines. The salary is up to £18.00 per hour DOE.

Qualifications

• Proven bench joiner or cabinet maker experience.
• Ability to read and work from technical drawings.
• Experience with MDF, plywood, laminates and veneers.

Responsibilities

• Interpret technical drawings and manufacture bespoke joinery.
• Cut, assemble and finish components with workshop machinery and hand tools.
• Laminate, edge, veneer and prepare surfaces for finishing.
• Ensure work meets high quality standards and deadlines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace.
• Work both independently and as part of a team.

Job description

We are working with a reputable client based in Derbyshire who require a professional Bench Joiner to join their team.

The position is a permanent role paying up to £18.00 per hour (DOE).

Working Hours: Monday - Friday - Day Shift (overtime also available)

Key Responsibilities

• Interpreting technical drawings
• Manufacturing bespoke joinery items from a variety of sheet materials and timber
• Accurate cutting, assembling, and finishing of components using workshop machinery and hand tools
• Laminating, edging, veneering, and preparing surfaces for finishing
• Ensuring all work is produced to a high standard of quality and within project deadlines
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workspace

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a bench joiner or cabinet maker
• Strong ability to read and work from technical drawings
• Experience working with MDF, plywood, laminates and veneers
• High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good time management and ability to meet deadlines

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience working on bespoke, one-off projects
• Basic understanding of finishing processes and materials
