Job summary

A&O Shearman Belfast is seeking Associates to join its growing Corporate team. You will work on high-profile M&A, private equity and large-scale reorganisations, collaborating with partners and offices globally.

You will provide legal expertise, draft and review documents, and drive process improvements with Legal Tech, while managing client relationships and multidisciplinary teams to deliver timely, quality outputs.

Qualifications

• Strong technical corporate experience including due diligence, reorganisations, company law advisory and contract negotiation.
• Experience in a commercial legal environment such as a US, City, or major regional law firm.
• Experience coordinating multi-faceted matters, including multi-jurisdictional or multi-specialist matters.
• Professional demeanour with judgement, commercial awareness and critical thinking.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and high self-motivation.
• Excellent relationship-building skills; a team player who can inspire confidence with clients and senior colleagues.
• Interest in legal technology and willingness to expand experience in legal tech.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong working relationships with Partners and Associates across offices.
• Provide legal expertise: issue spotting, drafting, reviewing, and templates.
• Work with Legal Process Improvement and Legal Tech to develop new solutions.
• Manage and liaise with internal/external clients, address queries, report progress.
• Manage the work of Legal Professionals, ensuring outputs are on time and high quality.
• Advise and educate Legal Professionals on commercial and legal details; quality check their work.
• Supervise and motivate Legal Professionals, upholding service standards.
