Job summary

Avon Valley Academy in Salisbury seeks a caring Teaching Assistant to join our behaviour and inclusion team, supporting students aged 11–16 in enhanced provisions. The role is part-time (30 hours/week, 39 weeks/year) with a focus on behaviour support and inclusive education.

You will work alongside SLT, teachers and SENCO to foster high self-worth and resilience. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a willingness to train in

Qualifications

  • Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting their development.
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and can work with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Enjoys working with young people and can build good relationships.
  • Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent.
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations.
  • Has a positive and empathetic attitude.
  • Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative.
  • Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people including their social, emotional and mental wellbeing.
  • Has some experience of supporting students’ learning and/or is willing to undertake training.
  • Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training.
  • Has experience working with young people with SEND/behaviour needs and/or is willing to undertake training to support young people with such needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to students within enhanced provisions.
  • Oversee and support pupils who struggle with behaviour.
  • Promote an inclusive culture to help all pupils achieve their best.
  • Work as part of a team with SLT, teachers, support staff and SENCO.
  • Assist with management of behaviour and inclusion.
