Job summary

Engage Education Ltd in Leeds is seeking a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH, autism, and other needs in KS1/KS2.

This temporary, full-time role runs 08:30–15:30 during term time, with one-to-one or small-group support and feedback to teachers and parents. A proactive, mentoring approach and DBS compliance are valued.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, autism or learning difficulties.
  • Ability to work one-to-one or in small groups with calm, proactive approach.
  • Willingness to obtain or already hold a valid DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
  • Collaborate with other staff to engage pupils and minimise disruption.
  • Provide regular feedback to teachers and parents on pupil progress.

About the role:

This Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant role is based in a supportive and proactive primary school in WF3. They are seeking educators to work with a wide range of needs, from children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs to more Sensory Behavioural Difficulties linked to Autism.

Our team has built an excellent reputation in the local area, and we’re looking for more high-quality mentors to work with these schools to positively impact the progress and attainment of their pupils.

Your Role as a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant:
  • Supporting on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
  • Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class and minimise disruption
  • Providing feedback to teachers and parents
  • You will be assisting pupils with Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Severe Learning Difficulties and other Learning Disabilities
The ideal candidate:
  • Outgoing and mentoring manner
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children reach their full potential
  • You will be expected to think on your feet and be proactive, no day is the same in a Special School, so being prepared is vital.
  • Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
