Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a resilient Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant for an established Alternative Provision in the Barnoldswick area. The role focuses on 1:1 mentoring and trauma-informed de-escalation to support 11–16 year-olds with SEMH or challenging behaviours.

The position starts as temporary supply with a clear pathway to a permanent contract for the right candidate, offering weekly PAYE payments and a chance to make a real impact in a close-knit pastoral team.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people displaying SEMH, ASC, or severe behavioural challenges.
• Formal training in Team-Teach, MAPA/CPI, or rest-informed positive behaviour management is desirable; CPD provided.

Responsibilities

• 1:1 & Small Group Support: deliver tailored learning and pastoral intervention to pupils who struggle in traditional classrooms.
• Behaviour Management & De-escalation: implement trauma-informed de-escalation strategies to help students regulate emotions.
• Pastoral Mentoring: act as a steady role model, set consistent boundaries, help students identify emotional triggers.
• Curriculum & Life Skills Engagement: assist with functional skills, outdoor tasks, and vocational activities to re-engage learners.
• Progress Tracking & Safeguarding: support EHCP outcomes, log daily progress notes, uphold safeguarding standards.
