Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker in St Albans to support students aged 11-16 in a SEN provision. You will work 1:1 or in small groups to boost academic engagement and emotional well-being, collaborating with teachers and external agencies to create inclusive plans.

The role emphasises mentoring, de-escalation techniques, and safeguarding, with DBS checks and right-to-work requirements. Competitive rates and CPD opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience with children/young adults with SEND, SEMH, or significant behavioural challenges.
• Team Teach training preferred; training encouraged for applicants.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication and ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Empower learning: 1:1 or small groups to drive academic engagement and emotional growth.
• Plan & collaborate: assist staff in designing inclusive activities and ISPs.
• Behaviour mentoring: use positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies (e.g., Team Teach).
• Track progress: monitor milestones and celebrate small wins.
• Community liaison: bridge between school, parents, and external agencies to support welfare.
