Job summary

Milk Education are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary school in North Tyneside for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team from September on a full-time, long-term basis.

You’ll be supporting pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them to engage positively in learning and achieve their full potential. You’ll work with teachers and the SEND team to create an inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with behavioural, social or emotional needs.
  • Patient and resilient approach when engaging with pupils.
  • Ability to collaborate with class teachers and SEND staff.

Milk Education are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary school in North Tyneside for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team from September on a full-time, long-term basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference to children’s lives. You’ll be supporting pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, helping them to engage positively in learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with class teachers and the school’s SEND team to provide tailored support for pupils with additional behavioural needs. You’ll build positive relationships, encourage emotional regulation and help create a safe and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

This role may involve working with individual pupils on a 1:1 basis, supporting small intervention groups, and assisting within the classroom throughout the school day.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with behavioural, social and emotional needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Encourage positive behaviour using consistent strategies.
  • Help pupils remain engaged with classroom learning.
  • Work alongside teachers and SEND staff to implement support plans.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Record progress and communicate effectively with the wider school team.
The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Patient, resilient and empathetic.
  • Passionate about supporting children to succeed.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner.A strong communicator with excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience working with children or young people is desirable, particularly within schools, youth work, coaching, care or support settings, although applicants with transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
