Role: Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant

Location: Shrewsbury

A school in Walsall offers an excellent opportunity for a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant. The role involves supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH) by building rapport and creating positive relationships to influence behaviour regulation.

If you have experience as a Teaching Assistant or are passionate about improving outcomes for young people, this role is suitable for you. You should be outgoing and confident in managing behavioural difficulties and re-engaging students in education.

We are looking for a Behaviour Specialist who:

  • Can develop and implement strategies to support students with SEMH in managing behaviour and improving academic outcomes.
  • Collaborates with teachers and support staff to support SEMH needs.
  • Provides individual and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree in psychology, counselling, social work, or related field (desirable but not essential).
  • Has experience working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Knows behaviour management strategies or is willing to learn.
  • Having a qualification in Team Teach and experience with SEMH students is desirable but not essential.

Pay rates include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanence later.
