Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Behaviour Mentor Teaching Assistant to join friendly Cheshire schools on a full-time, term-time only basis. You will support pupils with behavioural and SEMH needs, delivering targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions under the guidance of teachers and SENCOs.

The role emphasizes creating a positive, structured environment, developing behaviour plans, and liaising with staff and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with behavioural or SEMH needs.
• Knowledge of behaviour regulation strategies and de-escalation.
• Confidence managing behaviour in schools or similar settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Implement and monitor behaviour support strategies and intervention plans.
• Support emotional regulation and re-engagement with learning.
• Model positive behaviour and build respectful pupil relationships.
• Liaise with staff, SENCOs and external agencies to support pupil progress.
• Contribute to behaviour-focused initiatives across the school.
• Provide feedback on pupil development to staff and parents where appropriate.
