Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor for a mainstream secondary school in Lancaster. You will provide 1-to-1 and small-group mentoring, helping pupils overcome SEMH and behavioural barriers, while supporting them to re-engage with learning.

Working within pastoral and inclusion teams, you will use positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques, collaborate with Heads of Year and SENCOs, and monitor progress toward a permanent placement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with challenging behaviour or SEMH.
• High emotional resilience and exceptional communication skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to process a new one via PAYE).

Responsibilities

• Providing 1-to-1 and small group mentoring to secondary students who struggle with mainstream classroom environments.
• Utilising positive behaviour management and effective de-escalation techniques within dedicated intervention spaces or classrooms.
• Building trusting, professional relationships to mentor pupils through emotional regulation, attendance hurdles, and academic pressures.
• Working alongside teaching staff to implement behaviour support plans and track student progress.
