Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor for an Alternative Provision in East Lancashire (Blackburn area) starting September 2026. The role focuses on mentoring KS3/KS4 students with SEMH in a supportive AP setting.

You will provide 1-to-1 and small group mentoring, employing positive behaviour strategies to foster a safe learning environment and help students re-engage with education. DBS check required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or AP/SEN settings.
• High emotional resilience, patience, and exceptional communication skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to process a new one via PAYE).

Responsibilities

• Providing 1-to-1 and small group mentoring to students with SEMH needs.
• Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm, safe learning space.
• Building trusting relationships to mentor students through personal and academic barriers.
• Collaborating with teaching staff and pastoral leads to track student progress.

Pay Rate: £110 - £130 per day (PAYE)

Contract Type: Temporary with a view to Permanent
