Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join an Alternative Provision in East Lancashire this September 2026. You will support KS3/KS4 students with SEMH needs through mentoring and positive behaviour strategies, helping learners re-engage with education and build brighter futures.

This temporary role offers PAYE pay at 110–130 per day with holiday pay, with a view to permanent for standout candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering mentoring to young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS on update service (or willingness to obtain) per PAYE requirements.
• Strong emotional resilience and patient, clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1-to-1 and small group mentoring to students with SEMH needs.
• Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm learning space.
• Building trusting relationships to support personal and academic progress.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Providing 1-to-1 and small group mentoring to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
• Using positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm, safe learning space.
• Building trusting relationships to mentor students through personal and academic barriers.
• Collaborating with teaching staff and pastoral leads to track student progress.

What We Are Looking For:

• Proven experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or working within an AP/SEN setting.
• High emotional resilience, patience, and exceptional communication skills.
• A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to process a new one via PAYE).
