Job summary

Orchard Mead Academy in Leicester is seeking a committed Behaviour Mentor to join our pastoral team. You will work with students needing extra support to manage behaviour, engage with learning, and meet academy expectations, cooperating with Heads of Year, SEND, and senior leaders.

You will help identify needs, contribute to support plans, monitor interventions, and build positive relationships with families.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with young people, ideally in a school or pastoral setting.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students who may find school challenging.
  • Calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour.
  • Commitment to inclusion and supporting students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Identify students’ needs and contribute to support plans.
  • Monitor impact of interventions.
  • Support students to reflect on behaviour and rebuild relationships.
  • Support the running of the academy’s behaviour provision.

You will join a supportive and collaborative team committed to promoting high expectations and ensuring every student feels valued, included and supported.Job OverviewAs a Behaviour Mentor, you will work with students who need additional support to manage their behaviour, engage positively with learning and meet the academy’s expectations.Working closely with Heads of Year, teachers, the SEND team and senior leaders, you will identify students’ needs, contribute to support plans and monitor the impact of interventions. You will provide a calm and consistent presence, supporting students to reflect on their behaviour, take responsibility for their actions and rebuild relationships where needed.You will also contribute to the effective running of the academy’s behaviour support provision, helping students remain engaged with their education and supporting their successful return to lessons.
