You'll play a key part in supporting learners who may experience barriers to behaviour, learning, communication, or engagement. Working closely with education and care teams, you'll help create a safe, positive environment where people can thrive.

  • Mentor and support learners by building trusting relationships and offering encouragement that meets individuals where they are.
  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent approaches, de-escalation techniques and clear boundaries.
  • Assist learning and engagement by breaking tasks down, reinforcing understanding, and supporting progress in lessons and structured activities.
  • Contribute to planned interventions, including behaviour support strategies and learning plans, in line with agreed targets.
  • Support daily routines to help learners feel secure and capable-whether at the start of the day, during transitions, or through recovery after setbacks.
  • Record and report relevant observations using appropriate systems, ensuring communication across the team is accurate and timely.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families and other professionals to ensure support is joined up and meaningful. You don't need to have all the answers-you do need the right mindset. We're looking for someone caring, resilient and confident in their ability to support individuals with patience and consistency.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience of working with young people or vulnerable adults, either in education, care, youth support or another relevant setting.

  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to build rapport with learners and communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail for recording and follow-up.
  • Willingness to learn and take part in training, development and supervision.
