Job summary

Acorn by Synergie is seeking an experienced Production Cook/Food Production Operative for a temporary-to-permanent role in the Plymouth area. You will work in a modern food manufacturing environment, preparing batch-cooked products to schedules and operating commercial equipment.

The role offers 37.5 hours per week at £12.71 per hour with a weekday pattern (Mon-Wed 8am-7pm, Thu 8am-4pm). Candidates with their own transport are preferred and long-term career prospects are highlighted.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in production cook or food manufacturing roles is essential.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and production instructions.
• Good understanding of food safety standards.
• Physically fit for manual handling tasks and lifting heavy items.
• Own transport preferred due to location.

Responsibilities

• Prepare batch-cooked food products and large-scale recipes according to production schedules.
• Operate grills, fryers, mixers and batch cookers with care.
• Ensure consistent product quality in taste, portion size and presentation.
• Follow HACCP guidelines and temperature control procedures.
• Maintain accurate batch labelling and product traceability.
• Monitor stock, assist with weekly stock takes and restock ingredients.
• Carry out end-of-shift cleaning and maintain a clean production area.
