Job summary

Sofitel London St James is seeking an exceptional Bartender to craft sophisticated cocktails and deliver impeccable service in our luxury bar.

You will use Micros, knowledge of spirits, and bespoke guest requests to create memorable experiences while maintaining safety standards and collaborating with the wider team.

Qualifications

• Expertise in cocktail preparation, wine service, and premium spirits knowledge.
• Strong customer service and guest engagement skills in luxury hospitality environments.
• Proficient in POS systems, including cash handling and payment processing.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, health & safety, and alcohol licensing regulations.
• Excellent teamwork, inventory management, and multitasking abilities in fast-paced bar operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a wide variety of beverages to the highest standards, including cocktails from the signature menu and bespoke guest requests.
• Deliver personalised and engaging service, building rapport with guests and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
• Be conversant in the use of the Micros system, following operational procedures and Sofitel’s standards of service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area at all times, following health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
• Assist in the creation and refinement of cocktail recipes and presentation, contributing to seasonal and signature menu development.
• Monitor inventory and restock bar supplies as required; assist in monthly stock takes.
• Process payments accurately using POS systems and follow cash handling procedures.
• Work collaboratively with the bar and floor team to ensure seamless service during all shifts.
• Maintain knowledge of hotel services and facilities, promoting them where appropriate. Ensure you have a thorough understanding of and adhere to laws and regulations regarding licensing, food safety, health & safety & fire regulations.
• Relate naturally and warmly with guests—genuine interaction is at the heart of the St James Bar experience, requiring flexibility and attentiveness in every aspect of service.
• Collaborate effectively with the wider bar and floor teams to ensure a seamless and high-quality guest journey.
