Job summary

Afters is seeking an experienced Bar Manager / Assistant Manager to lead busy nights, ensuring high standards, motivating the team and delivering memorable guest experiences. You’ll be hands-on, visible and ready to step in across shifts, helping to drive venue performance and smooth operation.

You’ll supervise, train and coach staff, manage service during peak periods, and maintain compliance and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Experience in busy bar or late-night hospitality environments.
• Supervisory or managerial experience with frontline leadership.
• Ability to stay calm and organised during busy periods.
• Strong knowledge of bar operations, drinks and service standards.
• Excellent communication and guest relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the team during busy shifts, setting the tone for service.
• Own the bar operation and maintain high standards throughout service.
• Support recruitment, training and development of the bar team.
• Coach and motivate team members to develop skills and progress.
• Deliver excellent guest experiences and build relationships with regulars.
• Manage service efficiently during high-volume periods, keeping the team focused.
• Support stock management, ordering, cash handling and day-to-day procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness, presentation, licensing and compliance.
• Work with the wider management team to drive venue performance.
• Lead by example and stay hands-on with the team.
