Redditch United Football Club is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bar & Events Manager to oversee the running of a busy bar, including 1st team match days, evenings and weekends. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of the club's events and hospitality services, with a primary focus on the bar operation.

The role will typically involve, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

Key Responsibilities:

Event Coordination:

  • Ensure all events are executed smoothly, meeting the club’s high standards and exceeding customer expectations.

Bar Operation Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the bar, including ordering, stocking, and inventory management.
  • Ensure the bar is fully stocked with beverages and supplies, and maintain accurate records of stock levels.
  • Develop and implement effective bar service procedures to maximise efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Catering Management:

  • Coordinate with catering teams for match day and event catering requirements.
  • Manage ad-hoc catering roles, ensuring all food service areas are well-staffed and efficiently operated.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety in compliance with health regulations.

Staff Management:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise casual staff for events and match days.
  • Create staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels for all events.
  • Provide leadership and support to the team, fostering a positive and productive working environment.

Facility Maintenance and Safety:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and general upkeep of all event spaces, including the bar and catering areas.
  • Implement and monitor health and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for staff and patrons.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any issues promptly.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong background in bar operation management, with knowledge of stock control and bar service procedures.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly in relation to food and beverage service.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and match days.

Key performance indicators (KPIs):

  • The effective delivery of a range of events
  • Maintain accurate stock levels and manage waste
  • Manage sales margins in line with the club’s budget
  • Develop sales initiatives to drive sale and increase profit margins
  • Always maintain cleanliness and health and safety measures
  • Develop a strong team of staff to support events
  • Communicate well across the diverse staff team
  • Manage a range of bookings at the venue though an accurate diary system

Hours of Work

  • You are required to work 45 hours per week, with a flexible working pattern.
  • You are entitled to a minimum of 30 minutes unpaid lunch break each day. The role will require working a majority or evening and weekend hours.
  • You will be required to work at all first team match days and major events
  • The club reserves the right to alter working hours as necessary.
  • You may be required to work additional hours when authorised to do so and as necessitated by the needs of the club. Overtime shall be paid at flat rate for each hour worked over your normal working hours, subject to the advance authorisation from your line manager.

Other

  • Must have excellent organisation skills and the ability to meaningfully network to create new business.
  • Previous experience of using MS 365 and MS Teams is an advantage.

Holidays

  • Your paid holiday entitlement is 28 days per calendar year, which includes 8 bank holidays.
  • Bank Holidays may be classed as working days, therefore your bank holiday entitlement is included with your holiday entitlement and should be booked as holiday in the normal way
  • The holiday year runs from 1 January to 31 December. Employees starting or leaving employment during the year are entitled to holiday proportionate to the number of completed months’ service during the year.
  • Holiday may be taken only at times convenient to the club as previously arranged with notice.
  • Holiday not taken by 31 December may not be carried forward to the following holiday year without your line manager’s permission. Payment will not be made for holiday not taken.
  • If you leave the club having taken less than your pro rata holiday entitlement for the current holiday year, you will be paid for the number of days not taken. Any holiday taken more than your pro rata entitlement will be deducted from your final salary payment.
