Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Banking & Financial Systems Specialist to join the Transactional Finance team at Hampshire County Council. The role focuses on delivering specialist expertise across banking operations, cash allocation, and SAP-related activities, while transferring critical knowledge to the wider team.

The post holder will reinforce resilience, reduce reliance on key individuals, and document banking system knowledge for ongoing operational stability.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within banking operations in a large and complex finance environment.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP finance processes and associated banking activities.
• Experience supporting financial interfaces, system integrations and data feeds.
• Experience of balance sheet reconciliations and banking control environments.
• Knowledge of cash allocation systems, preferably Serrala.
• Proven ability to investigate and resolve complex operational and system-related issues.
• Experience producing operational documentation and delivering knowledge transfer activities.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders across finance, operational and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist expertise across corporate banking processes, controls and procedures.
• Support the operational management of banking arrangements and associated financial systems.
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve complex banking exceptions, processing failures and operational incidents.
• Maintain critical interfaces, files and feeds between banking platforms, SAP and other finance systems.
• Support the ongoing development of robust banking controls and risk mitigation activities.
