Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a banking operations specialist to provide SME-level guidance across cash allocation, SAP finance processes and related interfaces. The role focuses on strengthening resilience, documenting critical knowledge and transferring it to the wider team.

You will lead investigations of complex banking exceptions, maintain interfaces between banking platforms and SAP, and support risk mitigation through robust controls and clear operational documentation.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within banking operations in a large and complex finance environment.
• Strong working knowledge of SAP finance processes.
• Experience supporting financial interfaces, system integrations and data feeds.
• Experience of balance sheet reconciliations and banking control environments.
• Knowledge of cash allocation systems, preferably Serrala.
• Proven ability to investigate and resolve complex operational and system-related issues.
• Experience producing operational documentation and delivering knowledge transfer activities.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders across finance, operational and technical teams.

Job description

The purpose of the role is provide specialist expertise and business continuity support across banking operations, cash allocation processes, financial interfaces and SAP-related activities. The postholder will act as a subject matter expert (SME) for complex banking processes, key financial systems and associated projects while leading the transfer of critical technical and operational knowledge into the wider team. The role is designed to strengthen organisational resilience, reduce reliance on key individuals, support operational stability, and ensure critical banking and finance system knowledge is documented, retained and embedded within the service.What you'll do:
