Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Banking & Financial Systems Specialist to strengthen the Transactional Finance team in Winchester. The hybrid role focuses on banking operations, SAP finance systems and critical interfaces, ensuring continuity and robust controls.

Across this 1-year temporary position, you will act as SME for complex banking processes, lead knowledge transfer, and help document essential system knowledge to support resilience and operational stability.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in banking operations within a large finance environment.
• Strong knowledge of SAP finance processes and related banking activities.
• Experience supporting financial interfaces, system integrations and data feeds.
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and banking control environments.
• Knowledge of cash allocation systems, preferably Serrala.
• Proven ability to investigate and resolve complex operational and system issues.
• Experience producing operational documentation and conducting knowledge transfer.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist expertise across corporate banking processes, controls and procedures.
• Support operational management of banking arrangements and financial systems.
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve complex banking exceptions, processing failures and incidents.
• Maintain interfaces, files and feeds between banking platforms, SAP and other finance systems.
• Support development of robust banking controls and risk mitigation activities.
