Job description

Social network you want to login/join with:

Priory Adult Care is the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist adult care services. Our aim is to provide the right support in the right home for all the individuals we accommodate.

With community-based residential care settings, as well as a network of supported living services, we support adults over the age of 18 with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS), and behaviours that challenge. We also offer a range of residential and nursing care settings for older people with varying levels of need.

Job Advert Role Description

Supported Living North Yorkshire provides support across 2 schemes within the Harrogate Area. We provide assessment and support for adults living with a primary learning disability diagnosis, autism, or mental health issues, which may present complex conditions.

Our services offer 24/7 specialist supported living care designed to provide just the right level of support. We encourage individuals to develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible. We offer 1:1 and 2:1 staffing where required.

Within the homes, we continually promote the development of social skills, independent living, and personal responsibility. We find that the people supported by Supported Living North Yorkshire are very proud of their homes, as they are directly involved in creating them. Individuals participate in daily duties such as cooking, laundry, and cleaning, depending on their ability.

Many enjoy social occasions arranged within the community, such as eating out, shopping, attending music concerts, football or rugby matches, trips to theme parks, visits to local Turkish spa baths, and more.

Approximately a five-minute walk away, there are local shops in the town center and a large supermarket. Harrogate has a main college just outside of town, with smaller learning centers in and around the area.

Support Worker Role

As a Support Worker, you must be committed to working in a person-centered way that promotes independence and social inclusion.

You will be expected to support individuals in a manner that reflects their wishes and needs, consistent with their support plans.

You will help people maintain their own homes and lead fulfilling lives as valued members of their community.

You are required to comply with all regulations outlined in policies, supervisions, and training sessions.

You should attend supervisions, team meetings, and training, and maintain good communication with your manager and colleagues.

You should have initiative and motivation to work independently and as part of a team.

Relating to people, being a good listener and communicator, are essential skills.

Personal care may be required as part of the role.

Experience working with people with learning disabilities, autism, or mental health issues is not necessary but would be advantageous.

Behaviors that may challenge may be exhibited; full training will be provided. However, an understanding of the issues faced by people with learning disabilities and enthusiasm for supporting them to take control of their lives are essential.

Successful applicants will be required to attend person-centered training.

Full UK driving license is required for this role due to the individuals' needs.
