Job summary

Optegra Bradford is seeking an experienced Speciality Glaucoma Doctor to join our bank team at Bradford Eye Hospital, offering a competitive hourly rate up to £65 depending on experience and NHS service needs.

The role involves clinical and surgical support for glaucoma patients, including diagnosis, treatment planning, pre- and post-operative care, and collaboration with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• UK GMC-registered ophthalmology clinician.
• Experience in ophthalmology with glaucoma management and independent work.
• UK NHS Glaucoma clinic experience.
• Gonioscopy and SLT laser experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate and manage glaucoma and related ocular conditions.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as visual fields, OCT, Volk, CCT and gonioscopy.
• Provide management plans for glaucoma referrals and pre/post-operative care.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate patient records and comply with healthcare regulations.
• Contribute to service development and attend team meetings.
• Educate patients and families on glaucoma management and treatment options.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Staff Grade Doctor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our NHS medical glaucoma service, providing both clinical and surgical assistance. This position requires a compassionate professional with a deep understanding of glaucoma management and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate and manage patients with existing and undiagnosed glaucoma along with other ocular conditions.
• Perform diagnostic tests and procedures such as visual field assessments, optical coherence tomography (OCT), volk, CCT and gonioscopy.
• Provide management plans for existing Glaucoma referrals.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to service development initiatives.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding glaucoma management and treatment options.

What You’ll Need

• Medical degree from a recognized university
• Valid GMC registration with a license to practice in UK
• Experience in ophthalmology, particularly in managing glaucoma cases and ability to work independently
• UK NHS Glaucoma clinic experience
• Gonioscopy experience
• SLT laser experience
• Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
