Job Description:

Rethink Mental Illness is hiring BANK Mental Health Support Workers to join our team at Shipley Lodge, Heanor - Derbyshire.

Join an organization dedicated to helping those severely impacted by mental illness, emphasizing respect, dignity, and equity.

Shipley Lodge is a sixteen-bed, single-level facility for male and female clients, supporting recovery and independence.

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will help individuals with mental illness regain confidence and participate in social and workplace activities, working closely with service users to achieve personal goals and access support for their recovery journey.

  • Assist with personal care tasks as outlined in care plans.
  • Provide key worker support, including one-on-one assistance and coordination with mental health agencies.
  • Prioritize individual needs, using communication, motivation, and coaching to help clients achieve their goals.
  • Build respectful, honest relationships with service users, maintaining professional boundaries and following the Rethink Mental Illness Code of Conduct.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Transferable life or work experience applicable to this role.
  • Good listener, empathetic, understanding, kind, patient, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors aligned with the charity's values.
  • Experience supporting people with mental illness or providing care/support services in social care settings, paid or voluntary.
  • Experience providing personal care, including support with eating, toileting, washing, dressing, or oral and skin/hair care.
