Job Overview

Oxleas NHS Trust, awarded the South West prison contract in 2022, is seeking Mental Health Nurses to work within the prison service on a flexible bank basis. We operate across 19 prisons in the South of England, providing mental health, physical health, pharmacy, and substance misuse services in an integrated healthcare model.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist mental healthcare to offenders as part of the Mental Health In-Reach Team and wider mental health services.
  • Perform assessments, screening, triage, evidence-based interventions, care planning, and risk assessments.
  • Manage a challenging caseload, including offenders with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
  • Contribute to reducing inpatient admissions and facilitate early discharges through high-intensity interventions and complex case management.
  • Work closely with community mental health teams to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
