Job summary

Excelcare provides a Bank Kitchen Assistant opportunity at Glennfield Care Home in Wisbech, Cambridge. You will assist the Chef to prepare nutritious meals, follow meal plans, and ensure a high standard of dining for residents, contributing to their wellbeing.

We seek reliability, good hygiene and teamwork. The role offers flexible hours across Mon–Sun with 8:00–13:30, 10:00–19:00 or 16:00–19:00 shifts and benefits including 28 days holiday and free on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Experience of cooking for large numbers.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in catering and hospitality.
• 2 years' experience in a catering environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chef to prepare and cook nutritious meals for residents.
• Follow scheduled meal plans and dietary requirements.
• Maintain high hygiene standards and fit-for-purpose kitchen operations.
• Support dining experience during mealtimes and ensure smooth service.
• Check equipment and report faults to the Chef.
• uphold Health & Safety and cross-infection guidelines.

We have an opportunity for a Bank Kitchen Assistant to join our Glennfield Care Home in Wisbech, Cambridge. • £13.45 per hour
• Flexible Hours Available - 8am - 1.30pm, 10am - 7pm or 4pm-7pm
• Days across Monday - Sunday.

About the role

• As a Bank Kitchen Assistant, you will be required to assist the Chef to prepare and cook nutritious, healthy meals using fresh ingredients for the people living in our care home
• Work to scheduled meal plans paying attention to individual dietary requirements and personal choice
• Always maintain excellent standards of hygiene
• Work in a fast-paced environment and support at mealtimes with the dining experience
• Check kitchen equipment and report any concerns or faults to the Chef
• Understanding of Health & Safety, particularly in respect of Basic Food Hygiene, COSHH, safe moving and Handling and working within guidelines relating to cross infection

What we are looking for from you

• Experience of cooking for large numbers
• A passion for preparing and assisting with cooking of fresh, tasty, homemade food
• NVQ Level 2 OR (qualified by experience) in catering and hospitality
• 2 years' experience in a catering environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills as you will be involved in meaningful
