Job summary

Excelcare Holdings Ltd in Wisbech is seeking an experienced Bank Cook/ Chef to join the Glennfield Care Home. You will prepare nutritious meals for residents, plan menus, manage kitchen operations, and work with the team to support individual care plans.

You will promote dignity and independence through engaging activities and ensure high standards of hygiene and safety in a caring environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in catering and hospitality.
• 2 years' experience in a catering environment.
• 12 months experience in managing a kitchen.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.
• Schedule weekly meal menus, considering individual dietary requirements.
• Assist in stock ordering to stay within budget.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to align meal plans with support plans and risk assessments.
• Maintain quality assurance systems in the kitchen.
• Supervise other kitchen team members.
• Adhere to Health & Safety, Food Hygiene, COSHH, and contamination controls.
• Engage residents in meaningful activities and promote independence, choice, dignity and respect.
• Cook for large numbers.

Responsibilities

• As the Care Home Chef, you will be required to prepare and cook nutritious meals using fresh ingredients.


• Schedule weekly meal menus, paying attention to individual dietary requirements


• Work with the Home Manager to ensure that ordering of stock is in line with budgetary requirements.


• Work with healthcare professionals involved in the support of people living in our care homes to ensure meal plans and dietary requirements fall into individuals support plans and risk assessments.


• Maintain quality assurance systems within the kitchen


• Undertake supervision of other kitchen team members


• Have a full understanding of Health & Safety as well as Food Hygiene issues, COSHH, and working within the guidelines relating to contamination and cross infection.


• You will be involved in meaningful activities with the people living in our care home as well as always promoting independence, choice, dignity, and respect


• Experience of cooking for large numbers
