Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated dietitian to join our Sutton team. This post will allow you to gain experience in patients with a broad range of cancers and treatments. You will have a varied caseload of both inpatients and outpatient and there will be local induction and in-service training opportunities built in. Ideally you should have experience in nutritional support and have experience of working with cancer patients.

To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work including the
management of patients in your care.
2. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex
presentations/multi pathologies using advanced clinical reasoning skills particularly in oncology. This
may include the use of complex calculations and/or anthropometric/other equipment.
3. Formulate and deliver an individual nutrition and dietetic treatment based on a sound knowledge of
evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and analysis of
biochemical results. To be responsible for providing specialised advice to clients within the oncology
setting including nutritional assessment, dietary counselling, motivational interviewing, negotiating
targets, developing care plans and communicating these with relevant health and other care agencies.
This may be on a one to one basis or to groups, both in an in and out-patient setting.

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
