Job summary

Practice Plus Group is seeking a Bank Anaesthetic Practitioner for a flexible, bank (0-hour) contract in our theatre teams. You will assess, plan and deliver specialist perioperative care, supporting patients before, during and after surgery within a multidisciplinary setting.

You’ll work with Consultants, Anaesthetists, Theatre Practitioners and Recovery staff to provide safe perioperative care, with opportunities to rotate into Recovery and contribute to smooth department operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in Anaesthesia, Recovery or ITU.
• Degree in Operating Department Practice is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and check anaesthetic rooms and equipment before operating lists.
• Support patients through the anaesthetic phase of their surgical journey.
• Assist Anaesthetists during procedures and ensure patient safety at all times.
• Monitor and record patient information using clinical systems.
• Manage drugs, equipment and stock in line with hospital policies.
• Support patient transfers and clinical handovers.
• Participate in infection prevention, risk management and governance.
• Support teaching, mentoring and development of colleagues and students.
• Collaborate across theatre and recovery services to ensure excellent outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre teams, delivering high-quality perioperative care while enjoying the flexibility of bank work. You'll play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their surgical journey and helping us deliver outstanding care every day.

You'll be responsible for assessing, planning and delivering specialist care within the anaesthetic environment. You'll support patients before, during and immediately after surgery, ensuring their safety, comfort and wellbeing are maintained at all times.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll work closely with Consultants, Anaesthetists, Theatre Practitioners and Recovery staff to provide a safe and effective perioperative service. You'll also have the opportunity to rotate into Recovery when required, contributing to the smooth running of the department.

This role is offered on a bank (0-hour) contract. There are no guaranteed hours, and shifts will be offered depending on business needs. You can accept or decline shifts based on your availability, making this a flexible option-but it may not be suitable if you are seeking consistent or full-time hours.

What we'll look for in you

• Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in Anaesthesia, Recovery or ITU.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and time management abilities.
• Excellent patient record-keeping skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Degree in Operating Department Practice - desirable.
• Previous experience working within an independent healthcare setting - desirable.
