Job description

About The Role

UNLOCK YOUR BEST WORK LIFE

+ MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR EVERY PATIENT

Are you an experienced ODP or Anaesthetic Nurse looking for flexible working opportunities within a supportive and dynamic theatre environment? We are looking for a Bank Anaesthetic Practitioner to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre teams, delivering high-quality perioperative care while enjoying the flexibility of bank work. You'll play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their surgical journey and helping us deliver outstanding care every day.

You'll be responsible for assessing, planning and delivering specialist care within the anaesthetic environment. You'll support patients before, during and immediately after surgery, ensuring their safety, comfort and wellbeing are maintained at all times.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll work closely with Consultants, Anaesthetists, Theatre Practitioners and Recovery staff to provide a safe and effective perioperative service. You'll also have the opportunity to rotate into Recovery when required, contributing to the smooth running of the department.

This role is offered on a bank (0-hour) contract. There are no guaranteed hours, and shifts will be offered depending on business needs. You can accept or decline shifts based on your availability, making this a flexible option, but it may not be suitable if you are seeking consistent or full-time hours.

What you'll be doing

As our Bank Anaesthetic Practitioner, you will be:

  • Preparing and checking anaesthetic rooms and equipment before operating lists.
  • Supporting patients through the anaesthetic phase of their surgical journey.
  • Assisting Anaesthetists during procedures and ensuring patient safety at all times.
  • Monitoring and recording patient information accurately using clinical systems.
  • Managing drugs, equipment and stock in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Supporting effective patient transfers and clinical handovers.
  • Participating in infection prevention, risk management and clinical governance activities.
  • Supporting teaching, mentoring and the development of colleagues and students.
  • Working collaboratively across theatre and recovery services to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
What we’ll look for in you

With your NMC or HCPC registration and completion of a recognised Anaesthetic course, you will also have:

  • Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in Anaesthesia, Recovery or ITU.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent patient record-keeping skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Degree in Operating Department Practice - desirable.
  • Previous experience working within an independent healthcare setting - desirable.
What you can expect in return
  • A bank rate of £19.96 per hour
  • Flexible shifts to suit your availability
  • Opportunity to work within a high performing clinical team
  • Supportive working environment focused on quality patient care
  • The chance to make a real difference to patients and colleagues alike
