Job summary

Simply Jobsworth in Stockport is seeking a motivated Band Saw Operative to join our production team. This hands-on role involves cutting metal to customer specifications, operating overhead gantry cranes, and ensuring products are processed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

You will work closely with the Foreman and production team to maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and health and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, steel processing, engineering or warehouse environments.
• Experience operating overhead gantry cranes is desirable.
• Ability to read measurements and work accurately to specifications.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
• Good communication and a positive team-working attitude.
• Reliable, organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Cut steel accurately using band saws and cold saws.
• Read cutting notes to ensure materials meet specification.
• Store processed materials in designated warehouse locations.
• Carry out stock checks and complete production paperwork accurately.
• Conduct pre-use equipment inspections and report defects.
• Follow health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Wear and maintain the required PPE.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
• Complete quality checks using measuring equipment to ensure products meet customer specifications.
• Work effectively as part of a team to achieve production targets.
• Attend training and undertake other duties appropriate to the role as required.
