University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 8d head of financial planning and reporting to lead the Group Finance function. You will oversee annual and medium-term planning, budget setting, and Trust-wide reporting, including the National Cost Collection.

A CCAB-qualified accountant with substantial post-qualification strategic finance experience is required. You will lead the Costing and Financial Planning and Reporting teams, drive high-quality governance data, and

This Band 8d head of financial planning and reporting leads the Group Finance function at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, reporting to the Director of Group Finance. The work spans annual and medium-term plans, budget setting, monthly Trust-wide reporting and the National Cost Collection, alongside finance, activity and workforce information for the Board. It also leads the costing and financial planning and reporting teams. Applicants need to be CCAB-qualified accountants with significant post-qualification strategic finance experience.

Qualifications

• Significant post-qualification strategic finance leadership in a large, complex organisation
• Financial modelling, translating complex data from various systems into clear, comprehensive models
• Business case appraisal
• Significant experience working within a senior management team
• Leading a team, including objective setting, performance reviews and performance management
• Implementing change

Skills & knowledge

• Working with computerised financial systems
• Working with multiple stakeholders with conflicting priorities
• Strong leadership, communication, influencing and negotiation skills
• IT literacy in spreadsheets, databases and pivot tables, ECDL or equivalent
